P.J. Clarke's

Location: 44 W 63rd St., New York City

Atmosphere:
The atmosphere is comfortable and warm. There are red-checkered table cloths which are reminiscent of an Italian restaurant, and little lamps with candles in them. The decor is like that of a pub, but classier.

Service:
The waitstaff are friendly and warm towards the customers. They offer great suggestions about all aspects of the menu, and they are quick to get your drinks and take your order. They check up on you at regular intervals to see how your meal is going, and they do their best to make you feel comfortable.

Menu:
The menu is not dissimilar to that of a pub's. They have a raw bar with fresh-daily seafood, but a somewhat limited selection of soups. They have burgers, steaks, seafood, sandwiches, salads, and a sides section with all the goods. Their prices are more than reasonable.

Food:
Starters: The soup was fantastic, both the French onion and the New England clam chowder. The coleslaw was delicious and the shrimp cocktail was great.
Entre: The Shepard's Pie was incredible. The mashed potatoes on top perfectly accented the perfectly cooked beef underneath. The Russet Tater Tots are the best tots I've ever had. They're homemade and it shows, espicially through the smokey ketchup that's served with it. The Greek salad was very good, and it paired well with the onion soup. The chicken pot pie had a flaky crust and a creamy sauce. The veggies were well cooked and the chicken was juicy.
Dessert: the dessert menu was extensive, offering a variety of treats. The ice cream was especially delicious.

Summary:
All in all, this restaurant is great. The combination of good atmosphere and amazing food is obviously a good mix. The prices were reasonable, and the waitstaff friendly. I'd say if you're in the neighborhood, go to P.J. Clarke's.

Welcome!

Welcome to the Evans Review! This blog will focus on rating restaurants that I have visited. They reflect my honest opinion, and at times it may be harsh. I am a food enthusiast, and most importantly a chef in my spare time, so I am basing my reviews on those things. There will be four sections to my review (Atmosphere, Service, Menu, and Food) and a summary at the end. All in all, this is only one person's opinion so don't just take my word for it, try out some of these restaurants and see for yourself if you really like them or not.
